A template is used to determine the initial structure, security, style, content, and properties of other objects. Almost every object in the Workbench can be based on a template.
Templates support and guide authors as they create new content. If a new object is created with a template, the new object automatically inherits (copies) the properties of the template. The authors do not have to set properties one by one each time they create a new object and so consistency and standards are maintained throughout documents. However, changes to the template afterwards are not automatically reflected in the copies.
